Are you going to share your percentages, Cam? INTP is a nice type. It's my second best match, and I think it correlates with high intelligence more than any other type.

I had actually forgotten about that.

I - 52%, N - 28%, T - 1%, P - 2%.

Well, I'm a pretty big social butterfly behind the computer...but I do like to self-inspect often, as well.

I've taken this test a few times since high school, when we first learned about it, and typically I am an INFJ. This time I scored as an ENFJ - but not by too much:
Quote:
Strength of individual traits: E - 2%, N - 32%, F - 48%, J - 28%.

INFJ and ENFJ are pretty rare...and it looks like I'm the only one in this group. The description is pretty accurate to how I am as a person, though, particularly this part:
Quote:
... such intuitiveness and sensitivity can also cause significant difficulties for people with this personality type – they may be too altruistic and empathic, getting too involved in other people’s problems, and then finding it difficult to detach and stop worrying. In extreme cases, this can even affect the ENFJs’ perception of themselves.

ENFJs are optimistic idealists, often trusting other people more than they should – although this usually turns out to be a self-fulfilling prophecy.

If that's not Avron in a few lines, nothing is.

Interesting. It's the first time I've taken a test like this. According to the test, I'm an ISTP (I - 72%, S - 50%, T - 23%, P - 37%).

The strengths and weaknesses page of the type descriptions are eerily accurate. . at least for me, lol. :P

Mine said that I often say things that won't be well understood by my peers because my mind has it figured out already and doesn't give anybody else the benefit of assuming they aren't psychic. Sounds about right.

Like I said, I don't like to read the descriptions because I have the habit of just saying, "Oh yeah, that's me spot on," if only because the test is telling me that that's who I am. It's like going to the doctor, getting a diagnosis and then hearing the symptoms. Even if you didn't have the symptoms, now you think you do.

I know what you mean, but personally I've always found the Myers-Briggs types to be oddly specific and relatable, and I'm not the only one to think so.

Oh I didn't mean for that to come off as they are completely untrustworthy or that I think people are wrong for reading them. From the snippets some of you have posted concerning the description you sound like a good match. It's just that I personally don't find them to be super...enlightening, I suppose is the word I want. I take the tests more as a curiosity than an actual personality assessment and don't want to read too much into the results.

Lord help you if you think these tests are equal to a diagnosis by a trained professional. No, mom, you don't have necrotizing fasciitis. It's just a foot fungus.

Nobody said that yet Cam, so let's not jump the gun there. ;)

And yeah, nothing can ever define who you are 100% as a person. You're the only one who can make that decision. Still, these things are interesting in that they make us wonder and question some of the things about ourselves - as well as entertain.

Cam did you just call me a fascist?

But yeah, that's sort of what I was trying to say. There probably are some parts of the description that are fairly accurate to me, considering I've been getting the same personality type for years.

Out of curiosity, has anyone had to take any of these tests for jobs or school? I took a M-B test in college one year to help us determine groups. The professor had us take the test one day, gathered up our results, and then put us into groups based on those results, diversifying us by type and supposedly putting us with the people that would fit us best. So has anyone else had a similar experience?

We took this in my high school psychology class and were paired into groups of people who would supposedly work well with us, but it was never for anything professional. I never had to take a test in that manner - thank goodness. Getting judged by SATs and GREs is enough; who wants a piece of paper (or computer page) to determine who they are as people?

I have a great story actually.

There was this one time I had a checkup with this really grumpy and cynical old doctor, he asked me the usual questions about school and stuff, and I answered sincerely and he then goes and recommends to my mom that we go see a psychologist or a therapist or some kind of specialist for kids with problems. So he gives us a number and a contact and my mom sets up an appointment or whatever.

It was kinda neat. We went to this big office and had a nice chat at the front desk with this lady and we waited. When the time came I walked into the room alone with this doctor and she was nervous as hell. I could see sweat all over her forehead and her voice cracked noticeably too. I'm also pretty sure she was shaking. I think she was used to working with younger kids and I was a highschool junior so... She wasn't having a nice day. She must have been afraid I'd have rage issues or something. Anyways, she sets up these tests, puzzles and cognitive assessment type things. I go through each one slowly and solve them all without too much difficulty. The doctor eases up as she realizes I'm not going to flip the desk over and strangle her or something. Then I come to this one puzzle. This one was much more challenging than the others. It took me a good long while of poking and prodding and flipping drawings around to get the answer but I got it.

Suddenly the girl yells out excitedly, "Wow! No one ever solves that!"

I felt pretty damn good. So my mom comes in as the session ends and the doctor can't stop talking about how great I am and how I'm absolutely not a murderous psychopath and that I should go to college because I'm super duper smart. I felt really great. I went home and spent several days with a really boosted ego. That is until I thought about the tests being meant for kids with developmental issues.

It made me sad to realize that.

True story.

I'm pretty sure IQ tests were developed with the idea of identifying kinds with mild intellectual disabilities in mind, but obviously they can identify people with quite high IQ's as well, so I wouldn't feel bad about it.

Don't ruin the punchline! It was carefully developed to compliment a real life anecdote.

Maybe you were just trying to reveal the fact that you're intelligent, but without seeming like a show off :p. Don't worry, you come across as intelligent. No need to say it :p.

Do I get a button or is this just one of those things that we just have a party over?

Well... A party for impulsive introverts doesn't sound like a good idea. And we also value thoughts over material possessions, so no button either. Maybe the reward is being able to quietly contemplate the strengths and accomplishments of our fellow INFPs. Yes, that sounds about right :p.

Took it again without being at work/in a hurry:

INFP, again. I - 24%, N - 6%, F - 24%, P - 20%.

It seems accurate enough.
