I like walking, but I'm in that camp of "15 miles is a short hike" people. Walking like, 5 miles or less just isn't fulfilling to me anymore, unless I'm carrying 30 pounds of weight or something.

If it's anything like floating thru an endless sky, with fluffy cloud whales as they singed their harmonic delusions that seemed to ripple thru your very being like a pond beneath the rain..

Then yes.. yes it is that kind of weird :wat:

This talk of magic sky whales sounds... familiar...

Fight Three, "The Snow Whale and the Dirtbird" wrote:
Snow whales have been in Skyrim since [the return of Man], living at the tops of the highest mountains, singing in magic tones, jumping from peak to cloud and back again, spreading their joy-snow in horn-like triumph from blowholes. We used to hunt them, our best climbers braving the rocks and ice-sheets, carrying rope and hooked spears. They had much meat, these whales, and blubber, and fluids that made paint and rosewater for our women. The earliest hunters had no luck; spouts of joy-snow [from the whales above] would drift down from the clouds and turn the men goofy. They would laugh like happy babes, some getting so tickled that they’d roll back down the mountainside in big flumphs—which only begat more guffaws-- or begin to pat each other on the back or hug in the masculine style to reaffirm their affections and camaraderie; in essence, the joy-snow got in their heads and they just forgot what they were doing.

Nope, that's not even close. It involved far more swimming than floating, and no whales.

I'm technically getting loads of exercise because I often have to walk four miles to get to work, but it's all focused on my legs and bizarrely doesn't seem to be burning any fat. I find the whole fitness thing a bit of a strange phenomenon for me because I can motivate myself to do some pretty serious running and feel really awesome afterwards (generally listening to heavy metal or playing Zombies, Run! on my phone) but having to diet or do stuff like push-ups is just something I can't do. Whenever I try to get a routine going it just slides straight out of my mind.

Same thing with meditation, actually. I actually find meditation to be an incredibly useful exercise, whether you're doing it to get better in touch with your unconscious mind (which is apparently a thing) or just taking ten minutes out of your day to sit calmly and breathe. It's just that for some reason I can't make it routine no matter how hard I try, probably because my mind is constantly racing.

And since Mars asked, I do sometimes use music as a meditation aid. It works best for me if it's very complex music, preferably classical or otherwise symphonic. I think it either calms my mind or causes me to focus so intently that I enter a pseudo-hypnotic trance. I also sometimes find myself in a bit of a self-reflective state when I'm playing my guitar, and my boyfriend has described being in a meditative state whilst playing Touhou of all things. I guess peoples' minds work differently.

What's the difference? You mean running like sprinting?

Yeah. I class the difference as speed. Im not sure at what speed jogging becomes running, mind.
By jogging, I mean the type that you generally see people doing down the street, more casual, where you have time to stop if a pedestrian appears, rather than have no choice but to knock them over.

Skipping is far more graceful than running, just saying.

I really don't know why as adults we do not use skipping to get around. It's actually a really quick way to travel and requires not a lot of force to achieve a good amount of forward momentum.

That's disconcerting/hilarious how realistic that conglomeration looks.

But is it as good as skipping?

Probably something to do with skipping as a mode of transport being typically associated with femininity.

Really it isn't that much about skipping being the most efficient mode of transport, that's probably walking, but is a pretty fun way to travel. Assuming you have room so you don't bump into anything/anyone.

Those three people are clearly making no headway with their ridiculous skipping technique. :P

Skipping sure is a fun way to travel. Not skipping with ropes though; that would take you too long to get anywhere.

Jcts, Just heard my neighbour angrily shouting his dog's name. Look outside to see the postman running like Usain Bolt down the street, rounding the corner as a large grey labradoodle charges after him, barking.
Ha ha, sometimes the stereotype is true!

I don't know what offends me more, how gleefully happy they are or the fact that they got fins for arms..

Kerr... does skipping turn you into a dolphin???

If you get so easily mesmerized by red, how do you ever get anything done in the hospital? Or Youtube? How do you cross the street without dying?

Skipping turns you into a delinquent. Go to school, my child.

 I'd say their gleeful happiness. I didn't even notice the fins, but their blatant over enthusiasm of how awesome that moment is registered on my radar straight away.

@Mars. I think it was the classic style of the umbrella, combined with the alluring shade of scarlet, that caught young Beta's eye, perhaps.
