Post subject: | Skyrim at War |
At the moment I'm looking for anyone interested in a strategy RP/game with both strategy and RPing elements. Each player will take control of a region of Skyrim and have a number of settlements and armies placed under their command. Each player's aim is to take control of half the settlements on the map by eliminating other players and capturing their settlements. The game rotates through different phases or rounds, Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. In Spring through Summer, units are moved around the map and battle commences, in winter the fighting ceases and there is a brief rest period. Troop movements occur through secret communication with the DM and all moves in a season occur simultaneously. Victory occurs through numbers, with a possible random dice-roll element. We shall be using this map of Skyrim, although I will be editing it based upon the number of players that join. Applications are as simple as filling out a Character sheet for your Jarl, however I can't guarantee all applications will be accepted due to limitations as far as numbers. I'm looking for a minimum of 5 and maximum of 9 players to begin, after which point I'll update you on the rules, mechanics and the map.
Spoiler:
________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The white lines you see indicate possible movement, travelling via roads equates to faster travel, decreasing the time the defender has to fortify their position with more armies, however roads lead to population centres which are harder to pass through than terrain, because they have armies. Each player will begin with an army in each settlement they hold. Every turn you will gain an additional army for every 4 settlements you hold, with Winterhold and Windhelm counting for two and beginning with two as a result of the Capital status and Legion respectively. The 'turns' are Spring, Summer, Fall, Autumn, Winter, Spring, Summer, etc. We begin in Spring. Moves can be made in all seasons bar Winter, winter allows for diplomacy and for players to build up armies (you still get extra armies in Winter). The moves are PMed to the DM, (that's me). All players move simultaneously. Moves are:
Note: You may only commence an attack on a Hold Capital in Spring or Fall. Battles occur when two armies meet. I will roll die proportionate to the number of armies each side has, defenders have a defenders bonus, which will equate to +1. In the event of a draw the opposing army retreats. In the event of a victory of less than or equal to 2 the loser retreats but survives. A victory of 3 or more and the loser's army is destroyed. In the event that one side has more armies than the other, the highest rolls are counted (so more armies means more chance of success), however, if one force is 3 times that of another (e.g. An army from Amol attacks Windhelm ( which has two armies), which receives aid from Dragon Wood) the smaller force is automatically the loser, and the dice roll determines simply their survival or destruction (so don't just go wildly attacking). In addition, an attack on a Hold Capital must last for two seasons (which is why attacks can only begin in Spring and Fall). Note that this gives defenders a chance to increase defensive support. At the end of each round I'll post an updated map. This is the first. Just on assassins and spies, you can give an order to use one when you send in your other orders, and I will roll a series of dies to determine how successful the assassin/spy was, whether they managed to escape and whether they were compromised, potentially revealing who sent them - a triple dice roll (success, survival/capture and secrecy -i.e. whether they pull off the hit without implicating the person who hired the Hit), however, spies and assassins may only be used once a cycle (year) and not used simultaneously as spies are available leading into all rounds bar Winter and assassins only leading into Winter. I hope this will allow diplomatic relations and alliances, especially because I set my character up to make trade alliances with many of the holds. |

Username: Savilius Character Name: Jarl Hodlin Race: Nord Gender: Male Age: 30 Description: Hodlin is a kind, but tough jarl. He loves the area around Falkreath. He is a tall, muscular Nord with brown hair, that isn't too long, but not too short. He mainly leaves it a little unkept. He values life, and will not burn a city to the ground, but merely occupy it. He has decent knowledge on warfare. Background: Hodlin was born in Whiterun, growing up in the surrounding area. When he grew older, he decided to explore Skyrim, and fell in love with The Falkreath. He lived in Falkreath for a while, the people looking up to him for his bravery and courage. He was soon made the new jarl after doing tasks for the people. He is respected, but is not questioned. Other Information: He prefers a silver sword and bow and arrow, and a full set of glass armor, without the helmet. Sometimes when on the move he wears a brown tunic and hood. I can't guarantee you'll get the Hold you want, but I'll take your preferences into account (depends on number of players and the implications on the map). So far we have 7 players, so if we get maybe two more we'll begin. It's set in the 3rd Era, during the Septim Empire's rule of Skyrim. Winter Hold is the Capital, there is also a Legion stationed in Windhelm. Both receive a military bonus as compensation for fewer starting settlements, and because it makes sense with the existing Lore. Also, for the purposes of the game, Nimalten City is the capital of The Pale, Whiterun is the capital of Whiterun Hold and Karthwasten is the Capital of the Reach. All other Hold capitals are in blue. |

In Modren Skyrim, but Bethesda hasn;'t been entirley faithful to previous Skyrim Lore, per se. They moved Markath quite a bit in comparison to previous maps. This one works slightly better than the 4th Era map which the game uses, in terms of settlements and what not. |

Mh. It seems like a terrible strategic warfare map. Dragon's Bridge is leagues from the Karth, and the Karth runs through neither Karthwasten nor Markarth. Which is kinda wonky. So... Perhaps, we can use another Skyrim map and map out some of the older settlements, maybe using the program Matt used for Faldor? I can scarcely see playing an RP with rivers and crossroads illogically placed, and a total lack of any mountain ranges... But there's my five cents worth. It's certainly playable, but... Yeah, griping done. |

Username: King Acunaski! Character Name: Jarl Rosteir (also known as Rosteir the Pure, Rosteir the Stern, or Rosteir the Charger) Race: Nord-Redguard Gender: Female Age: 34 Description: Jarl Rosteir is your classical Nordic beauty. Her long, thick, beautiful blonde hair flows through the winds of Skyrim with such elegance that most men would faint at the sight of her. She has a defined facial structure and large, deep amber eyes. Her body is lean and curvy - every man’s dream. Her skin is not as fair as the common Nord's, though. It is a bit more dark in color due to her Redguard blood. But Rosteir’s attitude strongly contradicts her appearance. At age 34, she remains a virgin, thus her title “Rosteir the Pure”. She strongly disagrees with any form of intoxication (legal or illegal), reasonless celebration, and “unholy sexual acts”, thus her second title “Rosteir the Stern”. Her third title, Rosteir the Charger, is gained from her internationally known reputation for her powerful, ruthless cavalry charges during battle. She valiantly leads her vast, well-armed cavalry units into the combat fields during almost every battle, fearlessly risking her own life for the sake of her kingdom’s victory. It has gained her much respect (and terror) from both her soldiers and her enemies. Rosteir enforces strict political discipline and runs a ruthless court. She strongly supports the “eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth” ideal. This seems to be working, as crime rates within her borders have never been lower. She is extremely loyal to her allies, and very intelligent and well-educated. Rosteir can be described as very powerful, determined, and strong willed. She disagrees with the traditional, male-dominated society that has existed in Tamriel since the dawn of time. Background: Jarl Rosteir is one of the most controversial rulers in Skyrim, mostly due to her racial background, virginity, and brutal tactics on the battlefield. Her mother, a renowned Nordic noblewoman, was viciously raped by the Redguard leader of a local criminal organization. Rosteir was the result. She was neglected and hated as a child. The only being on the planet that seemed to care for her was her mother. Her older brother of full Nordic blood was favored by all. He was to be the future Jarl of Northshore. However, he mysteriously “disappeared” on the night before his coronation. This drew extreme amounts of suspicion and controversy. Yet Rosteir was still crowned Jarl of Northshore the next month. She was 23 at the time. It enraged the populace that a half-Nord had gained the title of Jarl. The people were angered by her Reguard blood, but Rosteir was able to quell every form of opposition that presented itself. Since then, she has faced criticism for her refusal to bear a child, as well has her lack of mercy in the court. Yet, she is honored by the majority of her people for her bravery, strength, intelligence, and respect. Other Information: Rosteir harbors a secret far greater than anyone else could imagine. Nobody knows of this secret but her closest staff members. It has been stated that this secret affects her maintenance of her virginity, as well as her ability to remain Jarl. Her houscarl is a massive, 55 year old Nordic battlemage called Fanar. His vast array of abilities and loyalty to the Jarl of Northshore is well-known. Jarl Rosteir is also criticized for her "Imperialistic" ruling methods. She put an extremely heavy emphasis on her military, training them to be the best of the best - quality over quanity. Colour: Dark Blue (Northshore) |
