"Of course," Aramith said, ignoring the stupid Reachman who was howling in his ear, "Sebastien, help me lift her if you please, if she is feeling up to it, she may ride with me. I might have something more that can treat her pain."

"Thalmor loving b*stard is as likely to poison her as help her." Irriwen said fiercely. "I wouldn't put it past him." She rubbed her eyes. "Aramith." She said in a more subdued, calmer voice. "Her well being is all I am worried about here. Forgive my outburst. Not that I didn't mean it with all my being." She smiled tiredly. "But not now. Just... I know a bit about potions. If we put our differences aside, maybe we can help her."

For a long moment a hard stare at Aramith was his only response from Sebastien. He listened to Irriwen, allowing himself to put aside the impatient words he initially thought of uttering. After a moment he nodded at her. "Let the Bosmer help," he said emotionlessly. "It will be a good lesson for both of you, to extend some patience toward the other. Then we will get the woman up...to ride with someone who won't go blindly chasing others into danger's path. Surely we won't leave her here." The latter was a hopeful request, if ever Sebastien was cable of uttering one, to the other companions.

Spoiler:
Fun fact: [&@%!] isn't a curse word anymore.

"I hope you can understand why I am not be quick to trust you, Bosmer," Aramith replied, "or why I do not take kindly being called a Thalmor [&@%!]. Help if you wish it, I will not let your insensitive manner or my personal distrust of you rule the situation, but I insist, she will travel with me."

"As much for her own safety as my own sanity, you cannot know what it would mean to me to have the companionship of at least one friendly and familiar soul at this time, at least one other I can trust ... one other of my own kind," he added as an afterthought, "I would not have it any other way, nor I do not expect to be taught lessons at a time when more is at stake than people's feelings."

"I never said that." Irri replied testily. "And I hardly trust you. I just want to help the girl..." She looked more closely at her neck. "Ouch..." She murmured. "You understand..." She said, rummaging though her bag, "That I can hardly trust you with her. You are obviously a staunch Thalmor supporter, and she discredited them." She pulled out several dried herbs, and a mortar and pestle. "Got a mild painkiller and paralytic. If you can sew her up, I would appreciate it. I can get a restorative poultice ground up, then you can work your Altmer magic."

Aramith paused for a moment, and turned to the Bosmer. "We have been in company for only days and you profess to know me," Aramith sighed, "what right do you have to judge me? And what chance do I have of life if all people act as you do?! Can you not see my frustration? I killed a Thalmor Commander, I witnessed the slaughter of my people, once at the hands of the Thalmor, and once at the hands of you Chosen. Right now, your politics means nothing to me, can't you understand that? There are more important things in this life than causes and races and groups and factions. Can't you see?"

With a look of complete exasperation he returned to his work, a sullen mood taking over as he unravelled a tattered old scroll and begun to read its ancient text.

"No." Irri responded. "I can't. I see an honorable man clinging to the façade of a pompous ass. I saw a massacre, and I tried to stop it." Her voice was more ponderous than biting. "I don't know you, Aramith. You might look at this girl and see nothing but an enemy of the Thalmor. Or you just might see an injured girl. I have not judged you. I have remained impartial. If I had accepted your every action, I would still be judging you, no?"

Aramith stopped chanting, "and yet I am a "Thalmor [&@%!]"? To you I am your enemy, yet in truth I am nothing of the sort. You see in me the Thalmor, simply because I am an Altmer? You've not hidden the fact you despise the Thalmor with all your being, none of you have. You look upon me with hatred and loathing, simply because I am an Altmer, simply because I do not support you in your loathing of the Thalmor and because in me you see that which you hate and fear. Put aside your causes for a moment, all I am here to do is free Tamriel from the Marukhati, and in doing so help all of my people, all Elves and all citizens of Tamriel."

"Do you have wax in your ears?" Irri sighed. "He listens but he dies not hear. Well, I can see this will go nowhere." She had finished mixing the concoction, and rubbed it onto the girl's wound, and began sewing it up. "Try to see past words to see meaning, High Elf."

"Well whatever you claim I am no Thalmor lapdog," Aramith said, "and if caring for another of my own kind is a crime than kill me now and execute the law of the Marukhati. You have quite the nerve to suggest that I would poison one of my own people, simply for a cause. Try and free Valenwood for all I care, if you can live with killing your own people it is of no consequence to me. But do not assume that every other being is like you. I would never put my own people in danger."

He continued chanting, and golden light enveloped the Altmeri woman as the parchment begun to glow likewise.

"....how about the altmer woman rides with me, if we get ambushed, I can protect myself and her. But only if you guys agree." Tireace said thinking "I can also make sure she's doing fine, I know a bit about the body."

"I can see no distinction between leaving this woman to die at the hands of the Thalmor, and cutting her throat yourself." Irri said.

"Well it is not my loss if you are blinded, but I'd ask you cease these baseless accusations so that I may get on with my work. This conversation is over, I will tend to her, and while I will not prevent you from helping, I'd ask that unless you have anything to say that is not an attack on my person or my race, that you'd keep your mouth shut and I shall do the same."

"Now, where were we?" he said, before letting out a sigh of "ah yes," and placing two fingers on the woman's throat, "this should ease the swelling and treat the pain, everything will be all right."

Irri rummaged though her bag, and retrieved a small bottle. She dipped two fingers in, and swabbed the affected areas. "There's a bit of a disinfectant." Irri said, looking at Aramith. "Given a few hours, she should be fine..." She sighed. "I don't agree with you, Aramith. Neither do I particularly like you. Now." She said, her eyes deadly serious, "I have overstepped some boundaries. I apologize, I suppose. We will, after all, have to work together." She stood.

Aramith nodded contemplatively, before looking up from the woman. "Yes," he mumbled, seemingly distracted, "yes of course, I hope that recent events do not prove to be a permanent barrier between us. Despite our differences, we will no doubt need to stand together if we are to survive this ordeal. I was wrong to let such things get in the way, especially when the lives of every single one of both our kind are at stake. I judged you too rashly, and for that I am sorry. But thank you for your help, if she survives than at least some good will come of this day, and for that I would be grateful."

Irri sighed. "I don't think we've been formally introduced." She smiled playfully. "Altmer." She extended her hand.

Aramith took the hand, a smile that was less forced than it might otherwise have been crossing his face momentarily, "Aramith," he begun, "just a simple old scholar from Alinor, who lived for a time in Cloudrest and for an even briefer time in Shimmerene and Cheydinhal. Not much to tell other than I have been travelling Tamriel for nigh on decades studying the Arcane. Truth be told it has been years since I set foot on the Isles, but before the Marukhati kill me, I would like to see my homeland once more."

"My name is Irri." She replied.
Spoiler:
Because she doesn't tell people her life's story when meeting someone.

"We are gong to bring down the Marukhati." She said, her confident tone not acknowledging a shred of a doubt of their eventual triumph. "In this world of ours, tyranny and hate always meet their ends. One way or another." Her light tone didn't seem to match her words.

"I live on to see the day," Aramith replied, "when all people of Tamriel can live in happiness and enlightenment without fear."

"Everyone." Irriwen agreed, smiling sadly. She forced herself not no mention the word 'Thalmor.'

"All those who would live in it," Aramith replied vaguely.

Feather-Tail again mounted his steed as the woman was treated, neglecting to offer aid as it would be likely be refused and as he had no desire to assist his forced companions. He had, of course, considered desertion at many points during the group's limited travels; it was obvious, however, that attempting such would likely result in decimation or incapacitation rather than freedom.
