Surviving the School Year

Fri Sep 17, 2010 7:12 pm

Since Veck didn't answer my PM, I just went ahead and made this. Sorry, Veck. If you were going to make the roleplay, I'll have it locked right away for you.

Welcome to North Ridge Academy!

Welcome to North Ridge Academy! Home of the Hounds! A place of happiness! A place of godlike education!

Ha! All lies, my friends! NRA is possibly one of the most difficult high schools to attend. Teachers and staff members rule the building with an iron fist. Bullying infests the school grounds. Homework comes in massive amounts, tests are nearly impossible, and social networks are constantly at war. Kids are expelled left and right. And every time one is expelled, a new one is enrolled. Children and teachers are mocked. Tensions between bullies and nerds have tripled. More essays are being assigned! More science projects are due by Friday! More fat, tyrannical gym teachers are forcing students to run 100 laps!!!

Do you have the strength to survive the school year?

The Main Point of the RP

You are a student at North Ridge Academy - a tough, and extremely confusing high school. Whether you are a freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior doesn’t matter. Your goal is to make it through the year without getting expelled or otherwise removed from the school. For some of you, this may be easy. For others, it WILL be hard.

Your status as a nerd, bully, jock, or simply a kid that would rather fly under the radar than draw attention to his or herself will either aid or damage this year’s journey. The school year will be a mix of comedy, action, drama, romance, and even education (imagine that!).

So pack your bags, sharpen your pencils, and crack your knuckles - because it is a certainty that your social, academic, athletic, stealth, and fighting skills will be put to the test here at NRA.

Characters

We need a wide variety of faces and personalities here. We can’t have everyone be a bully or jock, and we can’t have everyone be a nerd or geek. We must find a balance here. Besides - conflicts between different students are funny as hell.

Character Sheet

Name (First AND last name):

Age (no younger than 13, no older than 18):

Gender:

Hair Color:

Eye Color:

Height:

Weight:

Physical Appearance:

Clothing:

Year (Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, or Senior):

Clubs/Activities/Sports (optional):

Bio:

Personality:

School Rules

1. Don’t run in the halls.

2. No hugging, kissing, fighting or other physical contact in the halls.

3. Be respectful and follow classroom rules.

4. Be to class on time.

5. No wearing chains in the school building.

6. No weapons of any kind.

7. No phones in the school building.

8. Do not enter the opposite gender’s dormitory.

9. Do not be outside after nine o’clock.

10. Do not skip class.

Failure to break any of these rules will result in detention or expulsion, depending on the offence. (You can, of course, break the rules. If caught though, you will most likely be pursued by staff members or even other students. If this happens, find a hiding spot and don’t let them catch you!)

NRA

NRA is a large school. Because of this, I have included a map. Observe the links below. The numbers on the map are room numbers.

The First Floor

The Activity Wing (first floor)

The Second Floor

The Courtyard

The Field Area

The Way the Roleplay Will Work

After you post your sheets, I’ll create a schedule for you. The schedules will tell you where to go for each class. You will also get a locker number. If your locker number is in the 100’s, it will be on the first floor. If in the 1,000’s, it will be on the second. Other than that, you can choose where it is located on its respectable floor.

I will control the teachers. You can control other minor NPC characters, though. After a period ends, you have ten minutes to get to your next class. You CAN skip, though. But that would be bad for both your grades and your reputation. Plus, you’d risk being caught.

Rules

1. I’m the fantastic GM. Bow to me.

2. Romance in allowed and encouraged. Nothing too graphic though.

3. Fighting is definitely encouraged.

4. Be realistic. You’re probably not going to stand up on a desk and begin disco dancing for no reason…

5. You may never leave school grounds.

6. NRA is located somewhere in the USA. Not sure which state, though…

7. This is comedy! Don't be too serious!!! :D

8. Put "Monkeys are just awesome" in your post if you read these.

9. Have fun!!!

Re: Surviving the School Year

I never do roleplaying games in real life, and have periods where I just can't write anything creative, so you actually took a burden off my back by making it yourself. I'll be glad to join. Of course, I must follow my established tradition of only playing girls, so I think I'll play someone based on a girl I know in real life, with a tiny bit of myself thrown in.

Name: Katie Paulson

Age: 16

Gender: Femme

Hair Color: Brown with faint dyed red streaks

Eye Color: Blue

Height: 164cm

Weight: 54kg

Physical Appearance: Quite tall and lightly built. Got the whole "sexy rocker girl" thing going on, if you're into that sort of thing.

Clothing: T-shirt, denim jacket, skinny jeans, trainers

Year: I'm not entirely sure how the year system works. What category would a first year sixth former fit into?

Clubs/Activities/Sports: Moosic, Football (real Football, not that Rugby variant you Americans have), Gymnastics, Art

Bio: Brought up in a conservative family of apple pie Americans, Katie did her best not to follow their ways. She got into Rock 'n' Roll at a young age, and pretty soon the striped wallpaper on her walls was replaced by Strokes posters, and her girlish curls replaced by streaked reds. Furious at her refusal to follow their pipe-and-slipper ways, her parents shooed her away to the academy under the pretense that they offered a good education. Really, they just wanted more time away from her.

Personality: Ever since she could talk, Katie has always been a thorn in the side of those who attempt to control her. She is boisterous, fast talking and disobedient, and it has got her into a lot of trouble over the years. She also likes to be in charge of herself, and those who don't know how to deal with her often regret trying to boss her around. She has not always found it easy to fit in and make friends, but she is at least social enough not to alienate any of her classmates. However, she is close and loyal to the friends she does make, and takes comfort only in them when troubled.

Monkeys are, like, so awesome. But the idea of monkeys throwing poo and eating bananas is just a dirty racial stereotype. In a recent demonstration, a group of monkeys ate poo and flung bananas to prove their point. Here's what a demonstrator had to say:

'Ah ooh ooh aah hooh ooh ahh.'

Roughly translated, this means:

'Although I'm proud of myself for standing up for the race, I can't get over the fact that I've just swallowed my own turds."

Name: Steven Kraklax

Age: 14

Gender: Male

Hair Color: Dirty Blonde

Eye Color: Hazel, with a bluish tint due to contacts.

Height: 160cm

Weight: 63kg

Physical Appearance: Long dreadlocks, piercings in the left eyebrow, upper left ear, and right lower lips (all hoops).

Clothing: Metallica shirt, black skull hoodie, dark skinny jeans, Tony Hawk shoes.

Year: Freshman

Clubs/Activities/Sports: Hockey, football (real, english football), plays in a band called Blood & Love with 3 friends. (If you want to join, just say so.)

Biography: Comes from Germany, specifically Munchen. His English isn't too good, but always aces German class.

Personality: Is the rocker dude. Always sits in the back of the class jamming Metallica on his IPod.

MONKEYS ARE SO FREAKING AWESOME.

Eh? In America, your first year is your freshman year, the second is your sophomore, the third is your junior, and the fourth your senior.

Oh, sorry. Monkeys are divine! All hail the monkey monarchy in which you rule!

Re: Surviving the School Year

Name (First AND last name): Richard (Rich) Gismondi.

Age (no younger than 13, no older than 18): 17

Gender: Male

Hair Color: Naturally Black

Eye Color: Brown

Height: 6'' 1.

Weight: 183

Physical Appearance: Tall and strong, he loves playing football. He's on the team every year, and does his best, at practice, and on the field. He has long, black hair that goes down just past his shoulders, which gives him some insults from fellow students. He is never seem without pants, even at practice, and is rarely seen wearing a color other than black. He has no piercings, and short, trimmed finger nails.

Clothing: Dark clothing, always blue jeans, black sneakers, and either a black polo, or black T-shirt, no matter the season/ weather. At times, he may wear a long sleeve black t-shirt, but only when very cold out (assuming this is in the Northern States)

Year (Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, or Senior): Senior

Clubs/Activities/Sports (optional): Football (Real football, not that weird, don't use your hands football  ) Band (Again, assuming there's a band class. If so, Saxophone.) And trouble making (Does that count? :P )

Bio: At first glance, you may think he's just another wannabe goth boy who listens to screamo all day, and stays up late at night in silent darkness. You'd also be wrong. Despite his appearances, he loves to play sports (which he is good at) and play the saxophone.

Being the youngest in his family, his brothers and sisters, and his parents had big impacts on his personality. His brothers taught him how to play sports, including football and baseball, while his sisters taught him how to respect women, no matter who they are. His parents, who always listened to rock music while Richard was just a baby, helped him like the music, and listen to it over the mainstream music most kids his age listen to today. This doesn't mean he likes all rock music however. Although he had nothing against it, he doesn't enjoy listening to Scream, or goth heavy metal, or what have you, to everyone's amazement.

To put it in a few words, he is very unique.

Personality: A nice, big guy. He respects all women, including teachers, fellow students, and even little kids. However, if you happen to be male, and get on his bad side, don't expect the same treatment the females get. He has been known to have a short temper, and to act out on his anger. He usually get good grades, but some subjects are harder than others for him, including math and English. It's not that he's dumb, he just has a hard time with numbers and words, in part due to his Dyslexia.

Some of this stuff is based off of me. Most of it isn't. I know nothing about football (since I don't play it) so please don't expect, long detailed posts about it, should I need to.

All awesome are monkeys.

Currently have few ideas (almost 11 p.m. in my timezone, duh), but I will be sure to create some crazy fella one of these days. Oh, yeah, and monkeys are divine.

Yo, King A, is Duh gonna join? When he's not begging it flirting with other characters, he's pretty good at it.

I know, it's like comedy stuff requires him.
The only reason he stopped posting here is because he was sick of coming over here every hour to check the forums. But he seems to like comedy stuff, and he said he'd make a character when he gets here tonight. He's sleeping over.

Cool. I loved your character in Camp for Idiots. I like when you join comedies.

As for the rest of you, awesome characters! :D

As for my character - should I make a boy or a girl?

King Acunasti wrote:

Probably a girl. I have a feeling that there will be 90 boys, and 3 1/2 girls...Somehow

Re: Surviving the School Year

Sat Sep 18, 2010 9:56 pm

While I am here, there will always be a plentiful supply of badass girls. I would say King A should wait until his cousin posts either his amzingly sexy and flirty girl, or his amazingly sexy and flirty boy, then pick the opposite gender. If those two romance though, I would honestly throw up though.

Re: Surviving the School Year

Sat Sep 18, 2010 10:44 pm

Our characters didn't romance in the past, and they certainly will not romance in the future, near or far. But my cousin is, of course, as dumb as a box of rocks, and may just try.

Whatever the case, whether he makes a boy or a girl, I will make a character with a personality that is the polar opposite of his character's.

Heeeeeeey! Man, it feel weird logging onto these forums. :? Yeah, like it was said, coming over here a thousand times a day just to get on the computer for 5-10 minutes gets old quick. But I do have a soft spot for comedy roleplays here on these forums.

Yeah, I like how you insult me on the internet so that I can't see or do anything about it. :P

Kk, this character is roughly based on me in name, physical appearance (NOT clothing), and history.

Name: Mario D’Luca

Age: 17

Gender: Male

Hair Color: Dark Brown

Eye Color: Blue

Height: 5’11

Weight: 155 lbs

Physical Appearance: Average length hair that reaches his eyebrows. He has a bit of an elfish face with high cheekbones and larger eyes that slightly tilt upward. His dark skin tone reveals his Italian heritage. Mario is not the most broad, but is extremely muscular. He is small and quick, and built for fighting. He is a very attractive person, and a big hit with the ladies.

Clothing: Gray t-shirt, black hoodie, a pair of baggy, dark blue jeans, and a pair of black and silver skate shoes.

Year: Senior

Clubs/Activities/Sports (optional): Enjoys rap music, but is not involved in any sports or activities. He feels it’d take up most of his spare time.

Bio: Mario was born in Genoa, Italy. He was put up for adoption at a young age. A kind and loving couple from the state of New York, in the United States, took him in and raised him as their son. While his parents loved him dearly, they didn’t truly know how to make him feel as though he was a member of the family. Mario felt unloved, and felt as though the world did not care for him. These feeling resulted in violent actions. After being arrested twice for illegal dealings, his parents sent him to NRA. He despises it there, but he is quite fond of the girls that attend the school. Of course, these negative actions have not stopped, and he is a renowned bully in the school.

Personality: Some teachers would describe Mario as being a funny kid who likes to joke around, but isn’t afraid to get disrespectful. Others would describe him as being an utter troublemaker, only existing in the school to scare “unpopular” students and flirt with girls he finds attractive. He has an extreme love for fighting, sometimes walking up to a strong student and punching him in the face for no reason other than to fight. With his extreme love for fighting comes his extreme love for women. He will never give up on a girl he likes, whether she is likes him back or not.

Mario is a feared bully throughout the school. He’s the typical kids that demands lunch money from overweight nerds and beats the living hell out of them is they refuse to cough it up. He is even known to make fun of girls that he finds to be ugly or nerdy. He has a soul, however. It’s actually not uncommon for him to take a certain liking for an odd or otherwise different or nerdy student and defend them from any threat. He has many friends…but an equal amount of enemies. And if he is introduced to competition when it comes to winning the heart of a girl, he will do ANYTHING to knock them out of the game.

Mario has very low grades, but is not stupid. Just a bit lazy when it comes to homework. He get 0’s on his homeworks, but has decent grades on tests, these grades ranging from mid-80’s to low 90’s. He has been known to smoke cigarettes from time to time.

There he is! Note that my parents are awesome, not crappy like my character's.
And the whole thing about how he is attractive and gets all the chicks - that's not me being arrogant. That's just how all my characters are. :P

Alright, I guess I'll make a female character. Norroen will probably do the same. That makes 3 girls, which is more than I thought we would have. Cool! :D

Re: Surviving the School Year

Here's mine.

Name: Melissa Davilo

Age: 16

Gender: Female

Hair Color: Light Brown

Eye Color: Brown

Height: 5’8

Weight: 133 lbs

Physical Appearance: Very pretty with a smile that matches her beautiful eyes. She has a fine hourglass shape and a well-built muscle structure.

Clothing: A pair of blue women’s jeans, a white t-shirt, a dark blue hoodie, and a pair of white shoes.

Year: Senior (she started school early)

Clubs/Activities/Sports: Running (track)

Bio: Melissa was born to a common couple in northern Pennsylvania. She was raised by strict, yet nice parents. Anything lower than an A was unacceptable. Due to NRA’s supposed “great education”, she was sent there after her freshman year in high school. She’s not a big fan of the school, and is excited to go back home after this year is over.

Personality: Melissa is kind, loving, understanding, and mature for her age. She’s not a nerd, nor a preppy “jock”. But she is very smart, and doesn’t usually get into trouble. She likes any type of music, especially hip-hop. She finds making friends to be easy, and she has friends in just about every social group.
