I have an up-to-date Oblivion installed, on top of which I've installed a number of mods, most of them via OBMM. Now I would like to install and play Knights of The Nine and Shivering Isles.

If I install them on top of my existing setup, what are the chances something will get trashed? What is the optimum procedure for doing this? Do I need to uninstall all the mods first? Or should I instead wipe the entire installation and start over from a clean slate (Oblivion, then Knights and Isles, then all the mods)? How will this affect my characters and saved games?

The mods I'm currently using are:
  • DarNified UI 1.3.1
  • Illumination Within Revived 0.9.2
  • Natural Environments 2.1.3
  • Qarl_TP3_Full_v1.3

I don't have any of those mods installed, but I believe KotN and SI should load before those mods. Now, if any of those mods has a .esm file, that file should load BEFORE KotN and SI.

And SI should load BEFORE KotN.

I believe that your OBMM should place the mods in the correct order. I have not used it, but the people that I know of that do have made statements about using OBMM to check the load orders.

Actually, what I'm most concerned about is Bethesda's installer for Kot9 or SI either blindly obliterating installed mods or, worse, half-way through the installation noticing that there are non-standard files in place, shrieking like an Anime schoolgirl and scampering off, leaving me to clean up the wreckage.

But the general tone of responses so far suggests I needn't worry about this, and that Bethesda's installers and mods generally play well with others.

Nah, you have to do it yourself.

But yeah ewhac, you have nothing to worry about. They work just fine.
