This month's CotM: is proudly being hosted by our very own UESP Great Houses! Haven't visited the Great Houses yet? Head on over to the Morrowind subforum where you can find Great House Redoran, Hlaalu, Telvanni, Dagoth and Indoril!

This Month, the competition looks to Morrowind and the exotic people and places to be found within the province.

In conjunction with the UESP District Great Houses, the UESP community will endeavour to create it's very own original Dunmeri Great House.

The basic CotM rules are as follows:
Spoiler:
» Members can contribute pieces based on the talent (writing, art, screenshots, etc.) and theme during the submission period, after which no further entries will be accepted. Then we will vote via a poll to see who gets to wear that month’s winner’s badge!

» If you are posting artwork, please post a link from an off-forum website such as Photobucket; if you are posting a written piece, please hide it under a spoiler when creating a new post. This is to ensure that posts are not too long and the thread appears orderly for everyone. If you are unsure how to do either of these, don’t be afraid to ask!

» Be respectful and polite about your fellow members’ work. Anyone who says anything rude about another’s work will be hearing from a member of the Mod Squad and may not be allowed to participate in the next competition. There is no such thing as “good” or “bad,” and everyone has a unique way of demonstrating his or her talents. Enjoy the variety!

» All members are welcome to join, including moderators. Don’t forget that we’re members, too!

Here's the plan:
This month we'll get set up and entrants will make the foundation for this New Great House. We've designed a rough template for members to use as a guide, but don't feel restricted by what it contains. At the end of the month all members can vote on which proposal(s) they think would be the best choice(s).

House Name:
House Location:
House Overview:
House Background/History:
House Specialisation (Favoured Skills, etc.):
House Politics:
e.g.
- Policy on foreigners/the Empire
- relations with other Houses and Factions (Friends and Foes)
- etc.
House Leader/Ranks:
House Religion:
A brief maxim or phrase summarising the House:

Then in September, members may submit their individual works of art or writing or other medium. Based upon the Chosen House from August, as voted on by the members. These entries could take the form of images of the Counselors, the House stronghold, stories about the House or the Counsellor's life, events that lead up to the founding of the new House ... or anything else that might add to the overall character and House. This would be done as a community effort, and there could be different votings, based upon the different types of submissions... art, writing, stats, gear, ect.

Then, after the competition is concluded, we (the Great House Team) will endeavour to create a page for the House (a la the current pages, e.g. House Redoran's), brining together different entries and filling in the gaps.

So get to it, UESP, and show us what you got!

(This fun event is hosted by yours pinkfully and the Great House Councilors. If you have any questions, feel free to ask them within this thread or by sending me a PM by selecting the appropriate button below my signature. Have some suggestions on what you'd like to see? Head over to the ideas thread and join in on the discussion!)

________________________________________________________________________________________________

Voting on this month's submissions is now under way. Just to remind you all here's what we've seen this month:
Great House Resdaynis
Great House Yellita
Great House Cardunmolag
Great House Sareloth
Great House Llatharn
Great House Veloth
Great House Sarandas
Great House Andrethi
Great House Farethen

I encourage you all to vote, and here's how voting will work:
Voting will be conducted via PM as in previous Comps, and both myself and Goblin voice, who has been another driving force and invaluable assistance with the original concept of a Great House Competition, will be overseeing this process. The reason for this is so that there is no hold up if one of us is unavailable and the second stage can begin without further delay.

Anyone can vote, for anyone (including themself), and all they need do is PM myself and Goblin voice, telling us which House concept they would like to see taken into the September portion of this Competition.

So an example would be:

House Name: Survinne
House Location: Mournhold
House Overview: What would be in here?
House Background/History: In the crisis that followed the destruction of Red Mountain, the extirpation of most of Vardenvel and the decimation of most life in Northern Morrowind, High Councillor Eravine Survinne established the House to bring stabilisation to Morrowind. His House was the first to act when the Argonians invaded Morrowind, bringing death along with them.
House Specialisation (Favoured Skills, etc.):
House Politics:
e.g.
- Policy on foreigners/the Empire
- relations with other Houses and Factions (Friends and Foes)
- etc.
House Leader/Ranks: Convert, Low Minister, Minister, Esteemed Adventurer, High Minister, Great Adventurer, Coverter, Councillor, High Councillor
House Religion: Anything
A brief maxim or phrase summarising the House: What would be put here?

ES Games: Morrowind Game of the Year Edition (PC), Oblivion Game of the Year edition
Platform: Playstation 3, PC
UESPoints: 0
House Name: Resdaynis
House Location: Velothi Mountain Region, Mostly residing within the Mountains themselves then the land around it.
House Overview: A House dedicated to the Union of Morrowind's Great Houses and keeping Morrowind safe from both internal strife and external war.
House Background/History: The Great House of Redaynis was formed after the Second Arnesian War. Due to the lack of unity between the Houses of Redoran, Telvanni, Hlaalu, Indoril and the former House of Dres; many members of Redoran invited various other House members to join in a House for all Dunmer. For the Land of Resdaynia, For the Dunmeri people, and for the honor of Morrowind. Although a majority of the land resides in Redoran territory, land-leases and military allows Redoran to let the House reside in this territory as Redoran no longer deals with Nordic invasions and the like. It was through these hard-ships that all Resdaynis members began to dwell on the idea of a united Morrowind (Resdaynia). Though The Great House of Resdaynis does not seek for forcibily absorb the other Houses; they do wish for united talks and united government of Dunmer and Resdanyian citizens. Their thoughts on the Second Arnesian War failure to push out the Argonians was due to this lack of unity and trust among kin and ancestors. Hence after the Armistice of Almalexia, several members of each House gathered to create a House for all Dunmer, for all citizens of Morrowind. Though there are struggles with Telvanni individualism, Dres racism, and Indoril conservative politics; many of House Resdaynis believe all will work out in the end. Though Resdaynis has always been a firm supporter of the Tribunal Temple, their history does not intertwine with the actual institution itself.
House Specialisation (Favoured Skills, etc.): Blunt Weaponry, Speechcraft, long-sword, Mysticism, Athletics and Destruction.
House Politics: The politics of House Resdaynis have always been a strive for a united Resdaynia for all citizens be they beast or Dunmer. Though there is a certain pride of Dunmeri citizens and members; they do wish to treat even the humble beast-races with respect and pride. A common joke among Resdaynis members is; "Many in Dres believe they were obviously superior to the Argonians and Khajit. Then in a day Dres was kicked out of its own territory by the "inferior" races. Is Dres Dunmer or are they simply weak bigots?" Though they do, in Redoran fashion, remain honorable and devout to the Temple in an Indoril conservative form. Though many members are from other Houses, so there is no core hatred for any one House. Most hatred of Resdaynis goes towards the Imperials, and more so the new Imperium of Mede. As their ancestors before them, the Great House of Resdaynis is staunchly anti-Imperial and profoundly traditional. Their views on slavery is one of "it may be tradition, but it is a tradition that weakens the pride of Dunmer and pride in our work." They do not officially denounce it in fear of Temple rejection, though they will not say it is perfectly fine. This has caused some tensions between Telvanni members whom joined to escape the bureaucracy of The Great House of Telvanni. They are suspecting of outlanders (giving them a more appropriate Dunmeris name; "N'wahier" for people of foreign lands.) though they are open to join. As long as they respect the ancestors of Resdaynia and the House of Resdaynis; with slight respect towards the holy Tribunal Temple. Temple issues has caused fraction in the House, as some want to fully endorse the Tribunal Temple (Indoril members) whilst others (Telvanni) want to abandon it. Mediators (Hlaalu, Redoran, Dres) wish to merely acknowledge the Tribunal Temple and the Saints while keeping out of Temple politics. Though there is a slight hatred toward Imperial outlanders, merely of tourist attraction if they were not apart of the original Imperials from the 3rd Era.

House Leader/Ranks: Unarish (New-Comer), Ogarish (Retainer), Nathisan (Oath-Man), Wraitsh (Keeper of Order), Branista (Brother), Musthera Noarish (Respected Elder), Musthera Oarish (Respected Master), Councirs-ser (Council-Man), Resdaynir ythra (Resdaynian-Leader)
House Religion: Acknowledgement of the Holy Tribunal Temple (BOEURALA), as well as the Great Saints of Old (ALMSIVI, Nerevar, Nerevarine, Saint Jiubs, etc). Does not require Tribunal-membership to join, although one does need to swear to respect the religion of Resdaynia and honor the Greater Saints.

House Symbol: All Five House Symbols are on said Symbol; surrounding an image of the territories of Morrowind. It is to symbolize that all Houses, of all creeds, must serve the greater good for Morrowind. Some within the great House of Redaynis wish a Temple symbol to be at the center of the image of Morrowind; to show that the Tribunal Temple is the center of Morrowind and respecting/devotion to it will serve the greater good of Morrowind. It will be added, says the Council-men, but it will not mean that total Temple devotion is a primary part of serving the greater good of Morrowind (Resdaynia).

A brief maxim or phrase summarising the House: "The Great House of Resdaynis maintains Unity, Honor, Piety, and Individual needs for all of Resdanyia."

I can't do artwork, and I'm not good at writing, so I need someone else to make mine.

House Name: House Yellita
House Location: Castle Karstaag
House Overview:As friends with the Morag Tong (Go ahead and get mad if I got that wrong) and the Dark Brotherhood, they are mostly assassins.
House Background/History:The house of Yellita was founded by Bretons, and taken over by the Dunmer, and is currently owned by the Dunmer.
House Specialisation (Favoured Skills, etc.): The Dunmer found ancient Magical scrolls with basic spells that were left by the Bretons that previously inhabited the House, so they are trained in basic Magicka and stealth.
House Politics:
All who are not members of the house are killed on sight.
House Leader/Ranks:Member, Experienced Member, Basic Assassin,
House Religion: The house members worship Sithis.
A brief maxim or phrase summarising the House: Magicka and Knives get the job done.

House Name: Cardunmolag
    House Location:
Foyada Fell (Formerly known as Hvitkald Peak)
    House Overview:
A House of unified iconoclastic Dunmer bent on protecting what's left of their people without groveling to Gods of any kind or limiting themselves to methods others would shy away from
They call themselves the Cardunmolag or "Eternal wardens of fire" - seeing themselves as the ever-vigilant and only protectors of the Hearth (Dunmer race)
      Slang - Darkfires
    House Background/History:
Officially founded during mass transit to Solstheim, they have roots starting during the Oblivion Crisis, A small group of Telvanni and exiled Ashlanders protected the coast along the Grazelands from Daedric Invasion. Finding kinship, the small band of warrior-wizards helped drive the invaders from the major ports along the coast and Nalur Onmar, a lowly Spellwright, took the exiles into his home after it was all over. In the coming years, Nalur and his men grew disgusted at the constant infighting in all aspects of Dunmer politics that eventually broke out into the Civil war between the Houses. What angered them even more was the Telvanni's unwillingness to take a side in the conflict and ending it quickly. When the Argonians invaded and the Red Year came, they made a vow to bring their people back to their former glory, with their own hands. Seeing an opening, they forged their new House by spreading rumors, "A House will rise through the ashs and take back the hearth." At landfall, Nalur set out using majic to shape the land to suit their needs, turning large tracks of land in western Solstheim into Ashen deserts and seeding flora from Vvardenfel. In less than a year, Foyada Fell was founded, the former mountain being worn down into an above ground crater and driving most of the native fauna into extinction. These acts did nothing to endear them to the people, but it was their aid in the southern campaigns to drive the Argonians out of mainland Morrowind that proved they were a force to be reckoned with. While always at odds with the established armies, they ignored orders given by the other Houses and launched direct assaults at the Argonian war-machine, using demoralizing tactics like hurling Argonian corpses into their camps and controlling captives to smuggle explosives behind enemy lines. Following these campaigns, they faced increased pressure from the older Houses shunning them and finding no support from the Temple, they turned completely away from ALMSIVI and embraced their new found pariah status.
Current Events: The Cardunmolag have found strong support from the Dunmer youth, these new generations looking to join, in search of a House of action
    House Specialisation:
All members are required to be well versed in all things magical as well as trained in martial combat
New recruits must undergo severe training on the practical usage of magic and melee in the field of battle
Members are taught early on how to summon a bound weapon, absorbing energy of all kinds and controlling perceptions
    House Politics:
The Cardunmolag officially accept any race, but off-the-record don't allow any non-Dunmer into the higher ranks
They are constantly at odds with the other Houses of Morrowind, many finding their methods brutal, single-minded, and honorless
They are hostile towards non-Dunmeri factions and Religious factions in particular
Vampires and Necromancers are welcomed into their ranks, but in recent years it has become apparent that there is a clear segregation from other members
    House Leader/Ranks:
    1. Emberling: New Recruit, must go through training before they can ascend in rank, cannot be given any tasks
    2. Ashkin: Average member rank
    3. Flamewarden: highest rank allowed for non-Dunmer, highest rank outside of the Keepers
    4. Will-o-wisp (aka Corpse fires): A separate rank for Vampires and Necromancers - trained secretly in demoralizing tactics
    5. Keeper of the Hearth (aka the Keepers): inner council
    6. Elder Lantern (aka the Lantern): Grandmaster and head of the House.
      -Current Lantern: Nalur Onmar, founder
    House Religion:
Atheists, they shun any form of worship and believe in finding the power within one's self instead of waiting for miracles
Strongly influenced by the extinct Dwemer race, they believe in progress above all else
    Maxim/Phrase:
"Preservation, Dedication, and Survival above all"
"What do you see in the Hearth, dear ash-brother?" "The Flame Eternal"

Ah... may as well. Edit: Whoa. That's more than I intended to write. But what can I say. I got swept up in the moment.

The Great House Sareloth

House Location:
Most numerous around the northern to middle border of Morrowind.

House Overview:
The House follows these guidelines: One - Never lose hope. Two - Be kind to all. Three - It is always beneficial to have allies. Four - Good deeds go a long way.

House Background/History:
Founded by Arleven Sareloth over three hundred years ago. The inspiration for the founding of House Sareloth was formed when there was a great battle between the Dunmer and the Nords - part of a larger war caused by Nordic greed- and a deployment of Nordic soldiers were sent out to deal with Blacklight's local militia and town guard. The current Duke of Blacklight was Arleven's uncle, Farvel Sareloth. Arleven was the lieutenant of the town guard at the time. Blacklight prepared their forces and were ready to face down the Nords. When the Nords descended upon the city, the Dunmer found that they were greatly outmatched. But Farvel Sareloth commanded his troops to march against the Nords anyway and the battle ensued.

Over five hours later, it was clear that the Dunmer were defeated. The Nords surveyed the scene and almost no Dunmer stood alive and healthy. They decided to leave, sure that Blacklight was destroyed and the Nords could enter Morrowind through the city.

Arleven fought in the battle and near the end, he was knocked out cold. Around an hour later, he awoke to a scene of utter destruction. Hundreds of Dunmer were either dead or wounded on the battlefield, Blacklight's city walls looming in the distance. Arleven looked up a small hill and saw an amazing sight: his uncle, Farvel Sareloth, the Duke of Blacklight, wounded with a bleeding side. The Sareloth family emblem, a tiger swallowing the sun, was on a flag in the ground next to him. The Duke was helping a Nordic woman off the ground. Her head was bleeding, staining her flawless blonde hair and face. With farther study, Arleven realized that the woman must have been the Chaplain of the troop, caught up in the battle. The Chaplain got off the ground, grabbed her head and almost fell, but was caught again by the Duke. He helped her to her feet, and she stumbled, towards the direction of Blacklight... but then saw another wounded Dunmer beside her. She knelt down to help him up. Two helping became four, four became eight, until at least a hundred Dunmer soldiers were saved and brought into Blacklight for medical attention.

What started as an act of kindness to an enemy after a bloody battle resulted in dozens upon dozens of rescued men. Later that night, Farvel Sareloth was weak and resting in his bed in the castle, and the Nord Chaplain visited him. She decided to stay in Blacklight after she realized that what the Nords were doing was wrong. Three months later, The Nord Chaplain and the Dunmer Duke were engaged to be married, Dark Elf style. The following week, during the wedding, Nords decided to continue the attack and wipe out Blacklight for good. The Chaplain rushed between the two battle-ready forces and somehow managed to call off the fight. Due to the Chaplain's actions, who, amazingly, turned out to be the King's grand-niece, the war between the Nords and the Dunmer ended... for a while. The wedding proceeded afterwards, but now with 500 Nord barbarians as last-minute guests!

Thinking back on it, Arleven Sareloth learned some very important lessons from the battle. From seeing the flag, he learned that hope is always present. From seeing the Duke help the Chaplain, he learned always to be kind to everyone. From seeing the Chaplain helping the other Dunmer soldiers, he realized that it always is beneficial to have allies. From seeing the Chaplain stop the impending battle, he learned that good deeds go a long way. On those standards, he founded House Sareloth.

House Specialisation (Favoured Skills, etc.): The Sareloth House specializes in Destruction, Conjuration, and Blade, traditional Dunmer skills. They also focus on heavy armor for protection.

House Politics:

House Sareloth is especially friendly towards Nords and Dunmer due to it's history. They accept any race, however.

House Sareloth's duty is to not fail again, like the Battle of Blacklight oh so long ago. Therefore, they protect Morrowind whenever asked.

They are enemies with the Telvanni, because House Sareloth is anti-slavery.

To join the House, you must make a name for yourself beforehand. You must have experience in a previous House, the Legion, the Blades, a guard force, or been in the temple or Imperial Cult. Then you must be trained for one month in the ways of House Sareloth.

The House flag is: A Tiger swallowing the sun (The Old Sareloth Family Insignia) plus, on each corner; a star (For hope) a hand (For friendship) a first aid symbol (Meaning they will give help to anyone) and an arrow (Meaning wait and your good deeds with be rewarded).

House Leader/Ranks:

Leader: Galven Sareloth, Arleven's direct descendant. Only Sareloth blood may rule the House.

Ranks (Best to Worst):

Duke: The leader of the house.

Councilor: The highest position a non-Sareloth can have. They are vital to the house for their varied ways they help.

Guildmaster: The leaders of the many bases and strongholds spread around Morrowind.

Grand Defender: The Tacticians of House Sareloth.

Defender: Tacticians for small-time tasks for the House.

Veteran: One who has been a soldier and has proved their worth, both on and off the battlefield.

Soldier: The majority of the members of House Sareloth.

Private: Not quite a soldier but better than a recruit.

Recruit: A new recruit into the House. They perform trivial tasks.

Initiate: One training to be in the House, not an official member yet.

(Special Ranking) Freelancer: An adventurer who has made a deal with House Sareloth to send half their loot to the House in order for all the benefits of a Guildmaster when it comes to housing and protection.

House Religion:
House Sareloth believes in the Three. Although for many years, when the entire Councilor force were Nords, the religion was Nordic. It switched once a more traditional Sareloth took the title of Duke.

A brief maxim or phrase summarising the House:

"Resilience, Respect, Relationships, Reward."

Nice entries all!

@POMC: By no means feel obligated to follow that template, but the posts after yours are all great examples of what can be done. I know you're itching to write a story, so stay tuned for the September half of the Comp!

Also, if nobody objects, I'd also like to make my own submission, just for fun . The ones so far have been fantastic!

Well, I think I'll follow suit here...

House Name: Llatharn

House Location:

The island fortress of Benekan, situated on the large island northeast of mainland Morrowind.

House Overview:

A matriarchal house, which only allows women to hold the highest positions of the house, they value knowledge and the craving for it. They delve in mysteries and thus worship primarily the daedric princes of Nocturnal and Hermaeus Mora. Almost none of them worship the Tribunal

House Background/History:

House Llatharn was founded only 60 years ago, by a scholar named Rathuy Llatharn, an initiate at the tribunal who got kicked out after being discovered participating in a Daedric coven being raided because of some illegal enterprises. Fleeing from Mournhold, Rathuy Llatharn received an epiphany, where (according to her) Hermaeus Mora spoke to her. She found that there was no house that truly respected knowledge and mysteries, and in an act that outraged some conservative Dunmer, founded House Llatharn.

House Specialization:

House Llatharn values Mysticism, Illusion and Alteration, but generally accepts any tactic useful in investigating old ruins and other mysteries.

House Politics:

The House are distrustful of Altmer and Redguard, for no discernible reason. They are, however, very prone to taking likings to Bretons, whom they find have an open mind because of their mixed origin.

The Llatharn’s avoid all contact with the Indoril, as they are against Tribunal worshipping, along with founder Rathuy’s expelling of the temple that many years ago.

House Llatharn’s flag show a raven surrounded with numerous pictures of the Daedric lette Yahkem.

House Leader/Ranks:

1. High Prophet of Shrouds (Current Prophet: Rathuy Llatharn still holds that position)
2. Shadow Scholar (Councillors)
3. Spyglass (Senior Field Investigator and Diplomat)
4. Librarian (Highest Rank Attainable to non-Dunmer)
5. Field Scholar
6. Student of Shades
7. Initiate

House Religion:

Daedra Worshipping of primarily Harmaeus Mora and Nocturnal.

A brief maxim or phrase summarizing the House:

“In the forgotten the truth will be found by those who search.”

Reminds me of Modryn's painting actually , regardless, you dissatisfaction is duly noted, although it can still be a valid entry in the September half of the Competition if you wish.

By the way, my entry is coming soon, now that I've finally got a chance to finish it. I'm rather time poor of late .

I was hoping someone would get the reference actually. Don't mean to break the theme, but I'd be rubbish at creating a Great House, plus I'd already Painted that for the original competition.

Nothing wrong with that. My other comment was in reference to the name of the image . Like I said, I'm sure it would be good for September, even if not this month.

Got another House idea

Great House Name: The Great House of Veloth

House Location: The Houses' Territory stretches from the Velothi District all the way to the Heart Land of Morrowind and the Sacred City of Necrom.

House Overview: The Honorable and Pious Great House of Veloth both serves the people and Morrowind in an honorable fashion; whilst defending the Tribunal Temple's traditions as well as the traditions of Morrowind. For Honor, Piety, and The Prosperity! (The Great House of Veloth is run both by local Councils in their territory but also by Three higher Councils. One in Almalexia to represent House Indoril, one in Blacklight to represent House Redoran and one in Necrom to represent the Tribunal Temple. All three discuss the inner-workings and policies of the House)

House Background/History: After the Second Arnesian War's ending with the Armistice of Almalexia(1); both House Redoran and House Indoril were in a state of disrepair. The military of Redoran now had a mutilated Council from the War with the Nords and the Argonians. Though they had regained full control of the Velothi District, and pushed out Hlaalu from their territory, they still had little leadership to follow. The opposite could be said for House Indoril; as the hierarchy of the Great House had little troops to spare after the war. Many of them died defending Almalexia from the Argonian Siege Machine and their thousands of troops; the rest held up in the Sacred City of Necrom. (A back up capital for House Indoril) Sadly, after the Armistice of Almalexia it seemed House Indoril had become the lowest populated House. Though it had gained surplus during the War; all of that died to defend Morrowind's new found independence. Though during one of the many meetings in Almalexia (the new home for the Grand Council); House Redoran and Indoril mostly spoke of their House troubles. Each noticing the others problems; though lacked the power or supplies to aid the other. Finally, on Morning Star, the leaders and House Indoril and the new leaders of House Redoran met in Blacklight and Necrom to discuss their issues and a possible union of their Houses. Many, on both sides, had thought that Indoril and Redoran should join up as a larger House to tip the scale in the power struggles in the Grand Council. Ultimately it was decided that Redoran and Indoril would join forces; though the Hierarchy of Indoril was timid about the staunch Redoran in fully endorsing the Tribunal Temple and all the conservative ways of Indoril. The same might be said for Redoran trying to make Indoril more honorable and lenient with members. The union took some getting used to as power struggles between the conservative House Indoril and more Populist Redoran combated for dominance; they eventually came up with a solution. Both Indoril and Redoran leaders would ultimately create a new House from the ashes of their old ones; combining the ideas of a House as a voice for the Dunmer people, as well as a defender of the Tribunal Temple. And after a short House War involving Ulabaet Coast (2), House Indoril and Redoran formally declared a new House; The Great House of Veloth. The new houses' name was to reflect both Houses ideologies in one piece. The conservative Indoril in Temple devotion (The Great Saint; Prophet Veloth) as well as Redoran's position in matters of the people. (The Great Saint Veloth was known for helping the Chimer flee to Morrowind where their new home would be; serving the people in guiding them home and protecting them) Although there are still internal-struggles within this Greater-House, and territorial wars with House Dres, Hlaalu and Telvannis; many in House Veloth (called Velothians) believe their ways to protect the people of Morrowind and guide them to a better future.

House Specialisation (Favoured Skills, etc.): Long Sword, Blunt Weaponry, Speechcraft, Spear, Block, Illusion and Restoration.
House Politics: The politics of the Velothians are a fickle matter; as the traditions of Indoril and Redoran clash at times even though they are a 'United House under the traditions of Honor and Piety". Typically The Great House of Veloth does not force members to become Tribunal Temple members; but does offer it as an option and certainly recommends it. Most organizational duties are either in Redoran-styled Council Hubs or Temples in the cities. Though, more recently, in the former territory of House Indoril there has been organizational leaders that have been forcing members to join the Tribunal Temple. This has been frowned upon by both the Temple, Indoril veterans and the Great House of Veloth. Though they are merely punished my a silent pilgrimage to Ald'ruhn and Ghostgate; to remind them even non-Tribunal Temple members fought valiantly during the Daedric invasion of Vvardenfell. Most call that pilgrimage torture, as it recalls dark memories. Another issue is with the beast-folk (nick-named "S'musthera" for not respected and "Thas'Mer" for alien race by some Velothians and most Dunmer in general); as Veloth does not restrict membership on them. Though there is a xenophobia against Argonians particularly due to the Second Arnesian War, more hatred then Velothians in the Veloth District pin on Nords ( also called "Cyrodier-othian" for Cyrodill's pawns). Though The Great House of Veloth is only of the only Houses to allow Argonians to be Council-members after the Second Arnesian war, as even the open House Hlaalu restricts Argonians to be council-members but they can be high-masters at local halls. Though, other then that, most of their policy revolves around serving Morrowind honorably, respecting the Tribunal Temple and the ancestors of old, and treating all members and non-members and honor and piety; as all are the same under BOEURALA's eyes.

House Leader/Ranks
: Initiate, Oath-Bearer, Guardian of the People, Velothian Knight, Holy Crusader, House Brother, House Father, Council-man, Necrom Council (a special rank which allows a mer, man or beast to enter Necroms' hierarchy and be apart of the Tribunal Temple Council), Arch-Master of Velothis District (Leader of former-Redoran territory), High Lord of the Holy heart-land (Leader of Former-Indoril territory), Holy Patriarch of Necrom, Lord of Veloth (Leader-rank for House Veloth). The House is being currently lead by four leaders: Arch-Master of the Velothis District; Traos Redoran. High Lord of the Holy Heart-Land; Nathier Indoril. Holy Patriarch of Necrom; Blessed Red-Eyes. And Lord of Veloth; Onash Sarethi.

House Symbol: The Beetle of House Redoran inside a Temple Triangle; to show the unity between the Temple-oriented House Indoril and the honorable house Redoran.

House Religion: "Blessed is the Tribunal Temple and the Greater Saints of Old. Blessed is ALMSIVI, Blessed is the Nerevarine, Blessed is Nerevar and Saint Jiubs; along with our Holy Father: Veloth. One must only respect the Tribunal Temple, BOEURALA, ALMSIVI and all the Saints. One may join the Holy Order of the Tribunal, as it is the choice of the Individual to be Holy by the Temple deeds or by ones' own deeds."- Onash Sarehti.

A brief maxim or phrase summarising the House
: "Honor, Respect, Piety, and Prosperity. This is the Great House of Veloth! All are welcome to join in the Greater Good of Morrowind."

Reference: (1) The Armistice of Almalexia was a Treaty that ended the Second Arnesian War. It was herald by an Indoril council when Almalexia was liberated in 4E 50 by a combined Indoril-Hlaalu-Redoran force from the west. Although many Indoril troops were keen on fighting to the end; the Hierarchy had learned from its mistakes after the First Armistice of Vivec-City. After many months of negotiation; the House of Indoril offered a treaty to the Royal Government of Argonia. (which had then been a new Royal Government that had exiled the An-Xileel from power.) The terms of the treaty were Argonian-Morrowind friendly relations and trade, as well as the war ending. Half of House Dres territory would be given to Argonia to help compensate the loss from the First Arnesian War (many of which Dres was displeased and revolted in Tear; though the revolt was put down by Argonian military.). Likewise, any damage to property or lives would be repaid by the Argonian Royal Commission and Former Imperial Bank of Argonia. The Second Arnesian War officially ended in 4E 57 when all Argonian troops left the Heart-Land and the Kragenmoor District.

(2) The Small House War concerning the Ulabaet coast was a way to make House Redoran and House Indoril adjacent; so the Union (predecessor to making the Great House Veloth, rather a union between the two Independent Houses) could function better. With the new Redoran leadership, bitter times were remembered at the hands of Hlaalu oppression under the (un)Holy King Helseth. With House Indoril; it was merely a means to an end. The war began with small territorial battles, with Redoran veterans taken entire cities after two months. It was at this time Hlaalu officially declared war against Redoran; simultaneously Indoril declared war on Hlaalu. It was, then, that the strategy of guerrilla warfare of Indoril and the strength of Redoran brought about the wars victory. The time of the war was, approximately, six months. The tactic would be later called by the other Houses as "Nar'Starosh Ulabaet". Nar'Starosh is Dunmeri for Lightning while Ulabaet is used as an alternative to use the term "Lightning War". As the term was already used by the Imperial-Dunmeri (Nar'Starosh Utas) in tactica used in the Reman-Dunmeri War. While House Hlaalu does seek to reclaim the coast, they are in little position to do so as Rouge Dres members are raiding in Hlaalu territory and the city of Narsis.

Second submission:

House Name: House Sarandas
    House Location:
Ald Chivir (Formely known as Old Ebonheart)
    House Overview:
Devoted to order and justice above all else, House Sarandas leaves out all the typical worship and piety that comes with the other militant Houses like Redoran or Indoril. They do not preach, they just protect the people of Morrowind. They do not ask for praise and do not want it, they are focused solely on keeping the enemies of Morrowind out of its borders.
    House Background/History:
Originally started as a refuge for foreign factions present during the Red Year, they offered a sanctuary for 'outlanders' and ferried them out of the Province, to safety. This changed with the onset of the Second Arnesian War, the fledgling group found themselves under attack from both the Argonian forces murdering many of the foreign born Dunmer and suspicion from Morrowind's natives. Regrouping, they made their way to the ruins of Old Ebonheart, one of the few places the war did not touch; from there they rebuilt the once great city and formed into a militia. Changing from a safe haven for refugees into an army trained from multiple backgrounds such as former Imperial Legion members and Fighter's Guild instructors. As the Argonians pushed further into Dunmer territory, the army in old Ebonheart swelled in numbers as refugees came, not for protection, but to bring the fight back to Black Marsh. Time passed and the army grew impatient, the leaders would not send the forces out as they had promised and bickered among themselves.

Everything changed when a lone Dunmer came to them, he requested to meet with these leaders, saying he was an emissary. He would not identify for whom he worked and would only give his surname, Sarandas. They refused to meet with him, this incited a riot within the ranks, the army was enraged that the leaders would turn away aid and the chance to make a difference in the war. They reluctantly allowed Sarandas to come before them, not wanting to lose all that they had made. The Dunmer emissary remain silent in their presence, the leaders demanded to know who he was represented, he replied "For Order" and killed the leader, their guards and everyone else in the chamber. He came before the expectant army and spoke of bringing order to Morrowind once again, of doing their duty to bring the lands back to their rightful place, and of a future where all obey the laws, a land without strife.

They brought the fight to the Argonians, the group's precisely coordinated attacks and persistent raids pushed the Argonains from much of southern Morrowind. With the help of the Great Houses, they scattered the army of Black Marsh and retook their lands. At first, the group was lauded as heroes and allowed to join as a new House, named after their Master. It wasn't until peace came that the other Houses began to see a different side of House Sarandas, one obsessed with order and crime was met with execution. Increasing friction has put the House under severe scrutiny and there are rumors that they do worship a single Daedric Prince that no knows of
    House Specialisation:
A militant order, they focus almost exclusively on melee combat. They abhor stealth and trickery, preferring to stick to methods with straight forward tactics
Some in their ranks are allowed the use of magic, but types allowed are limited, sticking to spells with clear cause-and-effects such as destruction, restoration, and conjuration. Illusion, Mysticism, and Alteration are banned, those found practicing them are severely punished
    House Politics:
    • House Sarandas has no official policy, only their duty to protect
    • Open to all races, they accept any who fit their restrictions on magic and subterfuge
    • Their enemies are House Hlaalu, Telvanni, Morag Tong, Dres, Camonna Tong, and the Thieves guild, the two latter factions are often are often killed openly by Sarandas members if even the evidence is slim. This often put them in an odd position with the public, the average commoner views them as rooting out evil whereas the nobility and high ranking House members view them with contempt and disgust.
    • They have no allies to speak of, their tenacity and boldness has earn the respect of many militant factions, particularly the Imperial Legion and Fighter's Guild, but House Sarandas' hostility towards encroaching factions puts them at odds with them.
    • Rivalries: Redoran and Indoril, these two factions are often found competing with House Sarandas on all levels, from minor gladiatorial fights to territorial battles.
    House Leader/Ranks:
    • Underling
    • Fixer
    • Steward
    • Order Knight - Uniform: Full steel armor set similar to Sarandas' original set
    • Order Master - Current Master: Sarandas, nothing is known about his past, he always wears a full suit of unusual looking steel armor with closed helm; No one has seen his face in years, it is unknown if he is the same person or if someone has taken his place. Weapon of choice: a longsword he calls simply "Perfect Order"
    House Religion:
None, they do not care what you believe, so long as you uphold order and do not preach on behalf of the House
    Maxim/Oath:
      "Order above all"

Finally here is my entry, a little bearer than I had hoped, but all things and commitments considered, none too shabby:

House Name: Great House Andrethi

House Location: Eastern Skyrim and Southern Solstheim
House Capital: Gah'ruhn (Ruins of Fort Frostmoth)

House Overview:
Formed from the ashes of the former power of Morrowind prior to the Second Arnesian War with Argonia, the House is a conglomeration of the remnants of the five Houses of 3rd Era Morrowind. Their alliance with Winter Hold has seen their power spread from their base on Solstheim, into the city as they plan to aid their brothers in retaking Morrowind and crushing the Argonians once again.

The House is supported by a contingent of former Redoran warriors, led by Drathas Andrano, supplemented by Telvanni Mages and followers of Varon Andrethi, and the few remnants of the Ordinators of Ghostgate, who escaped the Red Day through sheer luck, under the astute leadership of Indoril Ralvalas. The House is strongly comprised of members of Houses Dres and Hlaalu, who lost their homes in the initial invasion, and many of whom travelled to Gah'ruhn after hearing news of its construction as they fled North, away from the bloodshed.

House Background/History:
At the Battle of Ald'ruhn, House Redoran suffered a terrible defeat at the hands of Mehrunes Dagon's hordes and their ancestral home was lost, a shocking blow to the Noble House of Warriors. After the horrific events of the Red Day, House Telvanni was crippled by the loss of Vvardenfell and the Zafirbel Bay and many of the Telvanni Council were lost to the calamity. After the Argonians poured in from Black Marsh, House Dres was decimated by the invading horde, facing great destruction at the hands of their foes. House Indoril, already weakened by the civil war, also bore the brunt of the invasion, as did House Hlaalu, it's Imperial allies gone and it's power depleted.

In the events that followed these dark times, Varon Andrethi led an exodus from the Telvannis District, through the Deshaan Plains and into the Velothi Mountains. While many Dunmer chose to remain in their homeland under their former banners, many others fled into Skyrim and Solstheim, and many from a range of backgrounds, joined Andrethi on the path to the West. Instrumental in Andrethi's escape into Solstheim was Drathas Andrano, a relatively prominent member of House Redoran, who allowed Andrethi and his followers to pass through Redoran territory onto Solstheim, accompanying them to the ruined Fortress of Frostmoth, where they proceeded to establish the city of Gah'ruhn, after a brutal struggle with the local Nordic populace.

House Specialisation (Favoured Skills, etc.):
House Andrethi specialises in the traditional arts of Dunmeri combat, a war-hardened faction scarred by the brutal nature of the dawn of the 4th Era. Members of the House are adept in the arts of bow and blade and share a knowledge of the Destructive and Mystical Schools of Magic. The warriors of the House prefer the medium armours of the native Dunmeri Bonemold and learn to wear it like a second skin. These hard times sometimes call for diplomacy, but members of House Andrethi must also be ready for battle at any time, and must keep their arms and armour in good condition at all times.
Favoured Attributes: Strength, Agility
Favoured Skills: Long Blade, Marksman, Destruction, Medium Armour, Mysticism, Speechcraft, Armourer

House Politics:
House Andrethi remains peaceful and cooperative with all five major Great Houses across Morrowind, however as always, the other Houses remain distrusting of those outside their ranks, particularly those who many see as having abandoned Morrowind in its hour of greatest need.

On Solstheim, House Andrethi upholds an uneasy peace with its northern neighbours, the Skaal, and although the Dunmer clashed bitterly with the local Nordic populace from Skyrim, the Skaal had remained detached from the conflict. Despite this conflict on Solstheim, and the tension between the Dunmer and Nords, House Andrethi has remained friendly with the County of Winter Hold, and this has protected the House to some extent, from its detractors and foes in Skyrim, with many Dunmer settling in Eastern Skyrim, stretching the House's borders onto the mainland.

The House remains supportive of the Temple, however membership within its ranks is by no means obligatory for members of the House. While the House has few enemies amongst the Dunmeri peoples, one notable exception is the Cammona Tong, who have clashed with House Andrethi in attempts to establish their Skooma trade on Solstheim, within the House's territory. This adds a further level of complexity to the struggles of the House, as they face not only the hostilities from the West, but also from its own peoples, all barriers to the ultimate goal of reclaiming the South and restoring the glory and honour of the Dunmeri peoples.

The House allows members of any race join its ranks, however Argonians are met with distrust by many members, still bitter over the Argonian invasion. The House also recognises the remnants of the Imperial Legion and Imperial Guilds, however these factions do not have strong followings within Andrethi heartland.

The House abhors vampires and necromancers even more than it does Argonians, and as such, vampires are not allowed to join the House, and any member practising necromancy is likely to face expulsion, exile or even execution.

House Leader:
House Andrethi is guided by a High Council comprising of five Councillors, Drathas Andrano, Fendryn Dres, Thoryn Indarys and Indoril Ralvalas and the leader of the Council, Varon Andrethi.

House Ranks:
Grand Magnate
Councilman
House Father
House Brother
House Cousin
Kinsman
Lawman
Oathman
Retainer
Hireling

House Religion: Officially, House Andrethi is a loyal supporter of the Temple and the House follows in the worship of the Saints, particularly of the Great Saints Veloth and Nerevar, who guide and protect the Dunmer even in the dark days in the aftermath of the Red Day. However, Daedra worship is also strong within the ranks of the House, and can even stretch further than the worship of the Anticipations.

House Maxim: Austerity, Reverence, Duty

___________________________________________________________________________________________________

I also have an important announcement to make.

Voting on this month's submissions is now under way. Just to remind you all here's what we've seen this month:
Great House Resdaynis
Great House Yellita
Great House Cardunmolag
Great House Sareloth
Great House Llatharn
Great House Veloth
Great House Sarandas
Great House Andrethi

I encourage you all to vote, and here's how voting will work:
Voting will be conducted via PM as in previous Comps, and both myself and Goblin voice, who has been another driving force and invaluable assistance with the original concept of a Great House Competition, will be overseeing this process. The reason for this is so that there is no hold up if one of us is unavailable and the second stage can begin without further delay.

Anyone can vote, and all they need do is PM myself and Goblin voice, telling us which House concept they would like to see taken into the September portion of this Competition.

Yeah, you did something funky with the links there, Duruza. :P I'd suggest just browsing this thread for the Houses.
